Basically, if it's beautiful...
...I do it. Write songs? Sure. Poetry? Uh huh. Paint pictures? Yup. Design clothes? Don't get me started!
However, it is dance that has gripped my psyche from a tender age. When Choreographer Marla Hirokawa came to NYC [and ended up living with my family for several years!] from Hawaii, she founded a Ballet Studio just blocks from my home. And in fact, it became a second home for me in my early teen years. It was at Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn [formerly Covenant Dance Studio] where I received a complete, foundational discipline in Ballet as well as a profound love for dance!
From CBTB, I moved on to Modern Techniques such as Horton and Graham and was privileged to be graduated from the Alvin Ailey School's Certificate Program for Dance in 2004. At Ailey, I was afforded the opportunity to dance with the Touring Ensemble, perform works from incredible choreographers, and to meet many dancers and choreographers that comprise NYC's modern dance elite.
I am a freelance dancer, working as a company member of CBTB, HOPEDANCENYC, as well as several other NYC-based modern companies.
